Doctors under fire: Is anything sacred now?

वैद्यराज नमस्तुभ्यम् यमराज सहोदर: | यमस्तु हरति प्राणान् वैद्य: प्राणान् धनानि च || Salutations to you, O Doctor ( vaidya-raaj ), the brother ( sahodar ) of Yamraaj ( God of death ). Yamaraj only takes life ( praaNa ), whereas the doctor takes life as well as money ( dhana )! In our country, doctors are treated as second gods who give life to the ailing. To attack such professionals to further one's political agenda is not only crazy but diabolical . Medicine is a very serious profession which requires concentration, diligence and a calm and safe working environment for the medical professionals to excel. If such an environment is not provided and the doctors remain scared for their own safety, it will be impossible for them to provide adequate and quality service to their patients.
